Everyday California is more than just a brand, it’s a lifestyle

Owning his own company and brand was not the original path for alumnus Chris Lynch (‘08). But now, he couldn’t see it any other way.

With a degree in economics and plans to work in finance upon graduation, his plans changed when the job market soon took a turn due to the recession. Because of this, Chris decided to pursue an acting career and moved to Los Angeles.

But while working hard to make it big in Hollywood for a few years, Chris’s now business partner presented an offer that he could not refuse. A kayak permit was for sale in La Jolla to rent out equipment to customers, something Chris did while in college. Immediately taking it as a sign to move back, Chris took the leap of faith and began his company with just a truck, an iPad, and a dream.

Thus, Everyday California was born.

Now with their flagship shop in La Jolla Shores and a brand new one in Huntington Beach, Everyday California has become a lifestyle brand and a place where there is adventure for everyone. Offering kayak and paddling tours, as well as surf-inspired apparel, the brand hopes to show everyone what there is to love about California and the outdoors.

Chris’s career journey may have taken a few unexpected turns, but he’s clear about one thing: his SDSU education has been invaluable to launching his company.

The connections he made at SDSU and the shared Aztec pride between alumni have also been tremendous in helping with the success of Everyday California. Graduating around the same time as a few other SDSU founders of brands, including Blenders – Chase Fisher (‘10), Pura Vida – Griffin Thall (‘10) and Paul Goodman (‘10), and Sand Cloud – Brandon Leibel (‘12) and Steven Ford (‘12), the support of fellow Aztecs has meant the world.
